Strand Palace Launches a new Afternoon Tea Inspired by Their Partnership with the Peacock Theatre

Step into a realm of theatrical decadence at Strand Palace’s new Afternoon Tea, where the artistry of mise en abîme converges with the culinary stage for a theatre of illusion. Is it cake, or is it menu?

Theatre lovers and foodies are invited to uncover layers of drama and theatre in this fabulous London dining experience in the afternoon before they see Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Peacock Theatre. Inspired by Strand Palace’s official theatre partnership with the Peacock Theatre, the home of Dance and Entertainment in the West End, sandwiches, cakes and cocktails have been inspired by various styles of performance art under the roof of the Peacock Theatre including leading sausage ‘rolls’ and more. Each bite encapsulates an element of theatre, from dance styles, set design to leading ‘rolls’; guests can eat their way through a menu disguised as something ready to eat. Indulge in a theatrical Afternoon Tea at Strand Palace, starting with a Peacock-tail or Red Stiletto cocktail.

Act I of the Theatre Afternoon Tea experience showcases savoury treats like a vibrant Samba Sambal wrap with grilled chicken, sambal mayonnaise, mango, lime, and coriander, and the Stagehands’ Sausage Roll with delicate puff pastry, piquantly herbed sausage meat, and tangy red onion marmalade.

The Intermission offers a line-up of fragrant teas, including the ‘Headliner,’ our signature Covent Garden blend, and the Ballerina’s Bliss with white peony with rosebuds and traditional scones with typecast clotted cream jam.

Act II features the sweeter side of theatre; a Tutu Tartlet with sweet pastry, white chocolate ganache with a flutter of raspberry and rose mousse, the Curtain Call with red velvet cake merged with mascarpone mousseline, draped with milk chocolate, to the Actors Illusion— what appears to be a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich invites you to test your senses and decipher what lies beneath the sponge and cream.

The Theatre Afternoon Tea is available to book with a vegan menu and kids’ menu from January 16th to mid-May, daily from 12 pm to 4:30 pm at Haxells at Strand Palace, at £49 per person on weekdays and £55 per person on weekends. Exclusively this Mother’s Day (10th March) the afternoon tea will also include ballerina entertainment during the early afternoon slots.
