Dom Pérignon & Sarabande Foundation Celebrate ‘A Night Of Creative Assemblage’
Dom Pérignon is always an assemblage (blending in French). The assemblage is the foundation of the Dom Pérignon signature. It is guided by timeless principles that have always taken precedence over winemaking techniques and their evolution.
On Wednesday 2 October, Dom Pérignon and the Sarabande Foundation hosted ‘A Night of Creative Assemblage’ in the Winter Garden at The Roof Gardens in advance of London’s Frieze Week, celebrating the third year of their collaboration nurturing the next generation of creatives.
The evening, attended by those at the forefront of film, fashion and art including Eddie and Hannah Redmayne, Sandy Powell, Mark O’Flaherty, Markus Anderson, Michaela Yearwood Dan, Giles Deacon, Tom Scutt, Aaron Esh, Jordan Fein and Josephine Chanter featured an assemblage of commissions by Dom Pérignon showcasing the individual visions, creative processes and particular approaches of three Sarabande Foundation artists.
In addition, an exclusive reveal of a special edition of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 in tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat was exhibited to guests, following its release this month. These were exhibited on plinths fashioned by Sarabande artist Electric Adam in his distinct signature style reflecting the yellow, blue and green iconic crown and shield design of each bottle label.
Artists Electric Adam, Alumdena Romero and fashion designer Paolo Carzana delighted guests through a journey of bespoke installations and performances. A living installation by Almudena featured two photographic artworks depicting her grandparents, who were organic farmers, in celebration of the deep connection between people and the earth, highlighting their dedication, pride in their labour, and the legacy of care they have nurtured for other species and the land. Paolo’s tablescape creation presented an antique table cloth hand-dyed in a romantic colour palette by the designer in his signature style; as well as hand-dyed, monogrammed antique napkins as gifts for the guests. A durational performance piece by Electric Adam entitled ‘Séance’ blurred the lines between sculpture and performance by interpreting the spirit of the event’s garden setting via a marriage of classical Victorian garden sculpture and his signature latex architecture.
Guests enjoyed a family-style sharing menu of Vegetable crudités romesco; Tuna tostada with fermented black chilli & avocado; Rock shrimp tempura with yuzu mayonnaise; 35-day aged sirloin; Sea bass ceviche with roasted sweetcorn; Charcoal grilled market fish; Summer squash, borage & fresh sage ravioli; and Paavola paired with Dom Pérignon Blanc Vintage 2013, Dom Pérignon Vintage Rosé 2009 and Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2 2004.
