Collective of Six International Artists Given Carte Blanche To Present Conversations With Nature

Ruinart’s 2024 Carte Blanche sees a collective of six international artists create individual artworks expressing our relationship with nature.

Inspired by this tangible connection with nature, Maison Ruinart lays the foundations of a collective movement. By choosing to bring artists with strong convictions into conversation with the living world, the Maison is sending out an ambitious signal at a moment when climate upheaval has put so much at stake.

Conversations with nature brings to life a form of art that is committed to nature and driven by a multitude of talents. Although each Artist uses different media, all of them have a strong connection with nature. Some are interested in climate, others biodiversity. All of them focus on the relationship between mankind and nature through their unique prism. Andrea Bowers combines art and activism, Thijs Biersteker bases his work on scientific data, Marcus Coates creates new relationships with a “more than human” world, Pascale Marthine Tayou brings out beauty where least expected, Henrique Oliveira and his sculptures bring plants and other organic elements together, while Tomoko Sauvage is passionate about bubbles – from how they form to their transparent appearance. These six artists have been invited to come and dialogue with nature in the Champagne region and question our relationship with living things – embodying the collective impetus set in motion by Maison Ruinart.

In 2024, the public will gradually discover the polyphonic universe of the six artists invited for the Carte Blanche 2024. Their works will be showcased by Maison Ruinart at major international art fairs (inc. Frieze London 9 to 13 October 2024), to share their multifaceted environmental messages with a wide audience. From October 2024, these artworks – created through multiple Conversations with nature – will be brought together in an Artists’ Garden designed as part of a new architectural project at Maison Ruinart in Reims. Visitors will also be able to converse with the artworks and artists via a dedicated digital platform.
